Road Bike Fall

Well, it finally happened. I fell during out Saturday morning ride. We had ridden 23 of our usual 25 miles and everyone's worst cycling fear came true: two vicious looking dogs, teeth bared, came tearing toward us! The whole group slowed suddenly to stop and I hit the back tire of the girl in front of me. I went tumbling along the asphalt and Elias was right behind me. He rolled over my rear wheel and dove over my body, ending up on the opposite side of the road. Neither of us were seriously injured, but my knee has quite a gash in it and the left side of my body is scraped up. The most impressive part of the whole thing was the quick response of the group. Everyone pitched in to help out. Someone sprayed my knee down with water, one rode back for a vehicle, another accompanied me to the bike shop. We all shared a few laughs afterwards, too. Unfortunately my new wheel won't be here in time to do the 40 mile ride on the 4th, but I still plan to attend the bbq afterward.

Looking ahead: the fence, lunch with Kimberlee, and 4th of July
